Biographies
Mook: Vocalist
Mook is a powerful showman. In an ongoing quest to perfect his art, he has taken advantage of working with a myriad of musicians in recording studios as well as touring with many Top 40's groups. As Mook creates his musical spell, it is impossible for anyone not to be hypnotized by his tremendous charisma and vocal ability.
Gene: Guitar, Vocals
Gene's rhythm and lead guitar expertise adds to the overall sound of the band. His style of playing is heavily influenced by the "soul" sounds of James Brown, Otis Redding, and Santana. With many years of experience working with Lehigh Valley bands, he has acquired a solid reputation for excellence.
Ron: Bass Guitar, Vocals
Ron's natural ability coupled with the experience gained from working throughout the East Coast with various groups, keep the the rhythm section solid with his hard driving, heart pumping bass, making him one of the Lehigh Valley's best.
Dave: Keyboards, Vocals
After mastering the organ, he branched out to other musical styles including heavy jazz. These many influences can be heard as he rounds out the band as musical director.
John: Drums
John's musical career began at a young age and has continued to grow over the years. His experience includes touring with many groups. Although performing live is John's forte, he has done extensive work in recording studios as well. His talent creates and solidifies the foundation of the band. His super hip style makes him one of the best drummers around.
Paul: Trumpet, Flugal Horn, Vocals
Paul studied classical and jazz performance at Rutgers University, Mason Gross School of the Arts, and did a tour of duty with the US Marine Corps Band in El Toro, California, taking his talents all the way to the Persian Gulf. His musianship and creativity add excitement and energy to the horn section.
Ricky: Saxophone, Flute, Vocals
Ricky graduated from Trenton State College with degrees in music education and computer science, where he was a featured soloist with the orchestra and jazz band, including a performance at the legendary Carnegie Hall. He was the 1976 NJ high school state champion Alto Saxophonist. Ricky has appeared with many Lehigh Valley combos, big bands and Pocono show bands prior to bringing his hot soulful sounds to Joyous.
Jerry: Trombone, Vocals
Jerry graduated of Trenton State College with a degree in music education, and has been a music teacher for 35 years. His hard driving trombone playing fills out the Joyous three-piece "Chicago" style horn section.
